Just about a year ago I blogged on the topic of New Year’s resolutions. I feel that it’s appropriate to piggy-back off that concept as it is something that burns so fiercely in our minds. Failed resolutions have become almost synonymous with New Year’s and that does not have to be the case. In my post below, I reiterate a suggestion that I made last year to help avoid having our resolutions slip through our fingers once again. Enjoy.
Another year is drawing to a close. With that knowledge hovering overhead, many of us find ourselves contemplating and analyzing the progression, or regression of these last twelve months. Undoubtedly we will stumble across areas of severe disappointment. Being mere humans, there will quite naturally be goals and accomplishments we clutched and dearly embraced while crossing the threshold into the new year, only to casually sweep them under the rug somewhere down the line, in utter denial that they had ever existed.
It’s late December and the end of the year has arrived. Suddenly our memories awaken to all these lofty plans, these staunch promises long since neglected. Though we are at first struck with a sense of failure and a powerful urge to give up on the coming year, we miraculously undergo a transformation; exhibiting a new-found sense of confidence, and an unprecedented re-birthing of our drive towards self-improvement.
Thus we scramble to pick up the shattered pieces of our broken vows and often seek to take it even a step further the next year. How can we ensure better results this time around? What can we change in our approach that will yield successful results?
Often, to bring about change in our lives, altering our surroundings is the perfect catalyst to get the winds of change blowing. When we are more comfortable and satisfied with our new surroundings, perhaps we will be more motivated to make the changes needed to improve our lives.
